License & usage
Which engines does Numivo support?
Unreal Engine 5.3+ as a native editor plugin and Unity 2022 LTS+ as an editor package. Both share the same core — projects and presets transfer between engines.
Can I use Numivo commercially?
Yes. Pro, Studio and Lifetime licenses cover commercial use — shipped games, client work, everything. The Free tier is limited to personal use and evaluation.
What exactly does “per seat” mean?
One license covers one person actively using Numivo. You can install it on several of your own machines, but use it on one at a time. Studio teams can use floating seats: licenses belong to the team, not to individuals.
Who owns what I create with Numivo?
You do. Completely. Everything you place, bake or export is your asset in your project — no royalties, no attribution, no restrictions.
What happens to my projects if I stop paying?
Everything you already built stays yours and keeps working: Numivo bakes to native engine assets, so your scenes do not depend on an active license. Only the paid editor tools stop — you fall back to the Free tier and can keep opening and shipping your projects.
What exactly does the Lifetime license include?
A one-time payment for a perpetual license to the current major version (v1) at the Pro feature set, including commercial use. You get all v1 bug-fix, stability and security patches up to version 2.0 — but no new features, no upgrade to 2.0, and no AI tagging. Numivo runs fully offline for you. The exact wording is in the Terms of Service.
Can I use Numivo for freelance and client work?
Yes, with any paid tier. You may build environments for clients and hand over the results — the baked assets belong to the project, not to Numivo. What you may not do is resell or sublicense Numivo itself.
Billing & plans
Monthly or annual — what's the difference?
Features are identical. Annually you save compared to paying monthly (Pro: €79.90 instead of €100.68, Studio: €287.90 instead of €359.88 — at least 20 % less than paying monthly). Monthly is ideal for trying it out or short projects.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, with one click in the Lemon Squeezy customer portal (linked in every invoice email). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period — you keep full access until then. No notice periods, no retention loops.
How do refunds work?
14-day money-back guarantee on all paid tiers, no questions asked — just email support. Your statutory right of withdrawal as a consumer remains unaffected.
Do I get an invoice with VAT?
Yes. Lemon Squeezy, as Merchant of Record, automatically issues a full invoice with VAT — including your VAT ID for reverse charge when buying as a business.
Can I switch between Free, Pro and Studio?
Anytime. Your presets, species and settings carry over automatically. On upgrade, the remaining value of your current period is credited.
Are there discounts for students and schools?
Accredited educational institutions get Numivo for free, as do students with proof of enrollment. Email support with your proof — activation usually takes under 24 hours.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and PayPal, handled in the Lemon Squeezy checkout. All prices are in euros and, for consumers, include VAT.
Can my subscription price increase later?
Your running period always keeps the price you agreed to. If prices change, we announce it before the next renewal so you can decide in time — or cancel with one click before it takes effect.
Tech & performance
Does Numivo affect my game's performance?
No. Numivo is an editor-only toolkit. Everything bakes to native engine assets — instanced meshes, foliage, standard materials. Your build contains not a single line of Numivo.
What hardware do I need?
If your machine runs Unreal Engine 5 or Unity comfortably, it runs Numivo. The toolkit adds less than 150 MB of RAM in typical scenes and uses the GPU for heavy lifting.
Does Numivo work offline?
Yes, fully. Only the optional AI tagging in the content browser needs a connection — and it's opt-in. Without it, no asset ever leaves your machine.
Are Nanite, Lumen, URP and HDRP supported?
Yes. In Unreal, Numivo works natively with Nanite meshes and Lumen. In Unity, URP and HDRP are detected automatically and materials are generated accordingly.
Does Numivo work with Git and Perforce?
Yes. Because results are ordinary engine assets, they version exactly like the rest of your project. Numivo's presets are plain project files you can commit and share; the local asset index is a rebuildable cache and belongs in your ignore rules.
Can I add Numivo to an existing project?
Yes — that is the normal case. Numivo does not convert or take over your project: it adds editor tools that place and bake assets. Existing content stays untouched, and you can start with a single test scene.
What happens to my scenes if I remove Numivo?
They keep working. Since everything is baked into native engine assets, removing the plugin only removes Numivo's editor panels — meshes, foliage and materials stay exactly where they are. You just lose the ability to re-edit them procedurally.
Which operating systems are supported?
Windows and macOS. Linux is not officially supported at the moment — if that matters for your studio, tell support so we can weigh it for the roadmap.
Installation & updates
How do I install Numivo?
Download the installer from the install page and run it — it finds your engine installations and copies the Unreal plugin or Unity package into place. Then enable it in the engine's plugin or package manager. Step-by-step instructions per platform are on the install page.
What can the Free tier do — and what not?
Free includes the core scatter and all measure tools, with no time limit. Mesh blending, grids, species relations, AI tagging and commercial use are reserved for Pro — the comparison table on the pricing page shows everything in detail.
The plugin is missing after an engine update — what now?
Engine updates install into a new folder. Just run the Numivo installer again — it detects the new version and copies the plugin in. Takes under a minute.
On how many machines can I install?
On as many of your own machines as you like (e.g. desktop and laptop). A license may be actively used on one machine at a time.
How do updates work?
Numivo checks a signed update channel and verifies every download before installing, so an update can't be tampered with. You choose between the stable channel and early preview builds in the settings. Paid subscriptions get all updates while active; Lifetime gets v1 fixes up to version 2.0.
Can I go back to an older version?
Yes. Every release is listed on the release notes page. If a new build causes trouble in production, write to support — you'll get the previous build, and we'll take the bug report seriously.
Privacy & data
What data does Numivo collect?
As little as possible. Asset metadata, favorites, collections and download history stay in a local database on your machine. The current build sends no telemetry and no usage statistics. Name, email and billing data only exist because of a purchase — and those are processed by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record.
Does AI tagging upload my assets?
Only if you switch it on, and even then only the small preview image needed for tagging — never your project files, source assets or scenes. With AI tagging off, the content browser works purely locally.
Where is my data stored?
Your project and asset data stay on your machine. The website and purchase process run on infrastructure in Germany and the United States (Cloudflare, Lemon Squeezy), safeguarded by EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Details and your GDPR rights are in the privacy policy.
Can I use Numivo under a strict company IT policy?
Usually yes. Numivo runs fully offline, activation needs no permanent connection, cloud and AI features can stay switched off, and the current build sends no telemetry. If your IT team needs written details for a review, support will provide them.
Support & community
How fast does support respond?
Typically within 24 hours on weekdays, with priority for Pro and Studio. The Discord community is often even faster — the team and 1,000+ developers answer there.
Where do I report a bug?
Via the support page or Discord. What helps most: engine and Numivo version, operating system, and the shortest set of steps that reproduces it. Reproducible reports usually get a fix in one of the next releases.
Is there documentation and are there tutorials?
Yes — the documentation covers installation, every tool and typical workflows, and it's searchable. Shorter walkthroughs live on the YouTube channel, and the Discord has a channel where people share setups and presets.
Can I request features?
Please do. The roadmap page shows what is planned and in progress; requests go to support or Discord. Feedback from real production work weighs heaviest — several tools exist because someone described a problem in detail.
